3 years in the making
Epoch Ephemeral began as an exploration of pinhole photography, drawn to the long exposures and distinctive distortion of a wide-angle, lens-less pinhole camera.
Over three years and more than two hundred rolls of film, the project evolved into an intimate exploration of self-portraiture, memory, and time. The resulting two volumes bring together photography and poetry to explore what is fleeting, what is remembered, and what remains.
Volume I - Visual Poetry
The first volume grew from a series of self-portraits and landscapes made along California's West Coast. The long exposures and dreamlike distortions of pinhole photography transformed familiar places and moments into something more elusive.
The work was first presented as a Collector's Edition Portfolio, pairing each photograph with my own poetry and accompanied by an original Platinum Palladium Print.
The response to the portfolio led to a Limited Trade Edition of 100, making the work available to a wider audience.
Volume II - Camera Eclectica
A year after completing Volume I, the visual language of the work began to expand beyond pinhole photography, and so did the locations. With a few exceptions in California, Volume II unfolds primarily across Europe, through Germany, Italy and Scotland. New cameras and processes including the ONDU 35mm, Hasselblad 500C/M, Holga 120N, and Diana F+ opened new possibilities for distortion, long exposure, and a diffused, dreamlike rendering.
Across these different approaches, the intention remained constant: to dissolve the fixed moment and render time as something fluid, permeable, and elusive.
